Archiv/Haase, 2025

4K Video, 4:3, Stereo Audio, 20 Min Loop
An installation commissioned by Domäne Dahlem, drawing from the photographic archive of agricultural journalist Hans Haase — a collection of over 40,000 black-and-white negatives. The work distills this archive into a diptych, assembling a virtual stage from fragments of architecture, figures, and objects. It evokes the grid structure of negative storage systems while exploring multiple states of archival existence: the physical materiality of (negative) film, its digital translation, the slow decay of nitrate stock, and the inherent abstraction that black-and-white photography brings to documentary practice.
